| Rufus grider states that Conrad Seeber's Tavern was operating in 1790. It is unclear weather the tavern was there in 1779 when General Clinton's army passed by on the way to Otsego Lake. The tavern later became famous for its horseracing track that was located there. This Rufus Grider picture shows the tavern as it appeared in 1899.

From “REMINISCENCES” by LEVI BEARDSLEY 1852
At Canajoharie we left the river and took the old continental road, as it was called, towards Springfield, Otsego county ; the same road that a division of the American army had taken to Otsego lake under Gen. Clinton, to join Sullivan's expedition against the Indians. We staid all night at Conradt Seeber's (now Seeber's lane,) where he kept a poor Dutch tavern.
