Fort Klock 1750
4 1/2 miles north of Fort Plain (north side of Mohawk River)

Johannes Klock, another Palatine, built FORT KLOCK with its massive stone walls in 1750. The walls were built with "loopholes" for firing on attacking enemies. The house was also constructed over a natural spring for fresh water supply. When Rufus Grider sketched it in 1886, he carefully reproduced the names inscribed on the structure.
